Pastree guide
Troubleshooting
Start with permissions, browser context, and a safe fallback before changing your data.
Pastree does not open where expected
Open Pastree from its toolbar button. Chrome shows it in a side panel; Firefox shows it in the sidebar and requires version 140 or newer. Check that the extension is enabled in the current browser profile.
Copied text is missing
Automatic capture starts off. Confirm you switched it on and allowed Pastree to access websites. Try copying text on an ordinary webpage with permission granted. Browser-internal and other protected pages can block extension access.
Search history and review both retention and the history size limit. For a page that cannot be captured, use manual entry.
A paste or shortcut does nothing
Copy the item, focus the destination field, and paste normally. Editors, focus state, page permissions, and browser restrictions can affect direct insertion.
Check the shortcut assigned to that individual item. Do not assume list position determines the key combination. Review conflicts with browser and operating-system shortcuts.
A file will not preview or attach
Confirm the file is a supported document or image, is at most 20 MB, and that you have fewer than 50 stored files before adding another. Preview is only available for supported formats.
Use the webpage’s normal file picker with your original file when its upload control does not support attachment.
Data appears to be missing
Check that you are in the expected browser profile. Review retention and size settings. The main JSON backup includes history, lists, and settings; prompts require separate exports, and files are excluded.
Avoid clearing storage or reinstalling before preserving the data you can still access. If the problem continues, use the report-bug checklist to prepare a reproducible report without private clipboard content, and email it to support@pastr.ee.
