Pastree guide
Reusable prompts
Keep your best instructions, fill in the changing details, and take them to the AI tool you choose.
Pastree saves prompts, not AI responses
Pastree helps you organize and prepare prompt text. It does not generate AI responses. Copy a prepared prompt to a tool you choose, and review that tool’s data practices before sharing sensitive information.
Use variables for changing details
Use {topic} for a fill-in variable. Automatic variables include {{clipboard}}, {{selection}}, {{date}}, and {{time}}. They let a reusable prompt include current context when available.
For example: “Explain {topic} using these notes: {{clipboard}}”. Fill in the topic and review the complete text before copying or pasting. Clipboard and selection content can be sensitive or unavailable in some browser contexts.
Organize and improve your templates
Tags and collections help group related prompts. Version history lets you keep track of changes as your instructions evolve. Name prompts by what they help you do so they are easier to find later.
A useful template describes the task, the context, and the intended output. Variables can make it reusable without filling it with private example data.
Export prompts separately
Prompts have separate export actions. They are not included in the main JSON backup for clipboard history, lists, and settings. Use the prompt export actions when you want to preserve your prompt collection.
Check what your chosen export contains and keep the exported file in a trusted location. Do not assume a main backup has covered your prompts.
