Pastree 1.2.1

September 29, 2026

Pastree asks before it reads web pages, opens beside the page in Firefox too, and lets you decide what it keeps.

Privacy and control

  • Pastree asks before it reads web pages. Access to websites is optional: Pastree asks for it when you turn on auto-capture, or the first time you paste or attach from the panel. The keyboard shortcuts and the right-click menu work without it.
  • Exclude passwords is on by default. Auto-capture and the right-click save skip text pasted into password, payment-card and one-time-code fields, and text that looks like a key, a token or a card number.
  • Auto-delete keeps your history for as long as you choose: never, until the browser closes, or 7, 30 or 90 days. Starred items and lists are always kept.
  • Clear All Data lets you choose what to delete: clipboard history, lists, files or prompts. Your settings are kept.
  • Deleting an item, or clearing your data, now removes the text completely.
  • The panel reads your clipboard only while auto-capture is on.
  • Attaching a file sends it only to the upload area you click.

Shortcuts

  • Open Pastree with ⌃⇧V (Alt+Shift+V on Windows).
  • On a Mac, shortcut items 1, 2 and 3 paste with ⌃⇧U, ⌃⇧I and ⌃⇧O. Each pastes the item it’s assigned to.
  • Settings › Keyboard Shortcuts lists every shortcut with the keys your browser has for it, and Manage Shortcuts changes them. Turning auto-capture on or off, and Clear All Data, can have keys too.
  • The right-click menu lists your shortcut items first, and its Starred menu shows all your starred items.

In the panel

  • In Firefox, Pastree opens in the sidebar, beside the page, as it does in Chrome’s side panel.
  • Search on the List tab finds lists by name and items by their text.
  • Select several clipboard items to star, add to a list or delete them together.
  • Better keyboard and screen reader support throughout.
  • Save clipboard to Pastree, in the right-click menu, works with auto-capture off, and confirms on the page.
  • Text is saved exactly as you copied it, indentation included.
  • The panel opens faster.
  • The Add Prompt dialog stays where it is when you tick Add to Favorites or Pin to top.
  • The ⋯ button in a prompt’s detail view opens the prompt’s menu, with Version History and Duplicate Prompt.
  • Export Data, Import Data and Clear All Data in Settings each show a single tooltip.

Light and dark themes

  • The light theme is light all the way through, including dialog fields and button bars, the prompt dialogs and hovered cards.
  • Text is easier to read in both themes.
  • A theme you choose in the panel reaches the options page and the file viewer straight away, without a reload.
  • In the light theme, the empty states show light illustrations.

Also new in the stores

  • In Chrome, Pastree opens in the side panel, beside the page, instead of a toolbar popup.
  • The Files tab keeps the documents and images you send often, such as a résumé or cover letter.
  • Attach a saved file to an upload form: pick it in the panel, then click the upload area on the page. It goes in without a file picker opening.
  • The Prompts tab saves prompts and canned replies as reusable templates, with fill-in variables, tags and version history.
  • Shortcut items stay with their item. Copying something new no longer takes a shortcut over. They sit at the top of the Clipboard tab.

Requirements

  • Chrome 116 or later, or Firefox 140 or later. Brave runs the Chrome version.
