Pastree guide

Files & attachments

Keep frequently used documents and images close to your browser workflow.

Storage and limits

Pastree stores files locally in IndexedDB in your browser profile. You can store up to 50 files, with a maximum size of 20 MB per file. Supported documents and images can be added; preview is available for supported formats.

The extension’s file chooser and preview behavior determine format support. This guide does not promise previews for every document or image type. Keep an original copy of important files outside the extension.

Attach to a webpage

Pastree can attach stored files to supported webpage upload controls. Choose your destination carefully: attaching sends the selected file to that webpage’s workflow.

  1. 1
Open the page where you intend to upload a file.
  2. 2
Choose the appropriate stored file in Pastree.
  3. 3
Use attachment on a supported upload control.
  4. 4
Confirm the correct file appears on the page before completing the upload or submission.

If attachment is unavailable

Some custom upload controls and protected pages do not support extension attachment. Use the webpage’s normal file picker and select your original file instead.

If you no longer have the original, check the available file actions in Pastree before deleting anything. Do not clear browser data as a troubleshooting step without preserving files first.

Files are not in the main backup

The main JSON backup excludes file contents. Browser profile removal, extension removal, or clearing storage can put locally stored files at risk. Maintain your own originals or copies outside Pastree.
