Good to know

Frequently asked questions.

Short answers about what Pastree does, where your data lives, and where it works.

Is Pastree free?

Yes. Pastree is free, with no account and no sign-up.

Where is my data kept?

Everything Pastree saves stays in your browser, on your device. There are no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and nothing is sent to us. Pastree doesn’t add its own encryption, so anyone who can use your browser profile can see what’s in it.

Does Pastree save everything I copy?

Only if you want it to. Automatic capture is off until you switch it on. When it’s on, Pastree saves the text you copy or paste on web pages. By default it skips password fields and text that looks like a password, key or card number. It checks for common formats, so it can miss some. You can also save items by hand.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome 116 or later and Firefox 140 or later, on desktop. Brave runs the Chrome version. Pastree isn’t available for Safari or for phones.

How do I open it?

Click the Pastree icon in your toolbar, or press ⌃⇧V on a Mac (Alt+Shift+V on Windows). It opens in Chrome’s side panel or Firefox’s sidebar.

Does it sync between my computers?

Your content doesn’t. Four settings can sync through your browser’s own sync if you use it: history limit, automatic capture, Exclude passwords and auto-delete. To move your history and lists, export a backup and import it on the other computer. Files and prompts aren’t included in the backup.

Does it work with ChatGPT or other AI tools?

Pastree stores your prompts and fills them in. It doesn’t connect to any AI service: you paste the finished prompt into the tool you use.
