Pastree guide
Clipboard history
Save, search, and star useful text. Decide whether automatic capture belongs in your workflow.
Save on your terms
Use manual entry to keep text intentionally. Automatic capture is optional and off by default. Switching it on asks for access to all websites.
Review site access in your browser’s extension settings. Grant only the access you want, and turn automatic capture off when you no longer need it. Do not assume every copy action in every app or browser page will be captured.
Find and keep the good bits
Search your saved history for a word or phrase. Star important entries so they are excluded from the unstarred-history retention rule.
Unstarred history can be retained forever, cleared on close, or kept for 7, 30, or 90 days. A separate history size limit also controls how much history is kept. Check both settings; a time setting alone does not describe every retention limit.
Copying and pasting are different
Copying places text on your clipboard. Pasting inserts it into a destination. A copy action does not itself fill a webpage field.
If a direct paste action is unavailable, copy the entry, select the destination field, and use the usual paste command. Pasting shares the text with that destination.
When capture does not work
Browser-internal pages, extension stores, and other protected pages restrict extension access. Some sites and embedded editors also behave differently. Try an ordinary webpage where you have granted access.
Confirm automatic capture is enabled and the site permission is allowed. For unsupported pages, manually save useful text instead.
